Biography

Evgenia Nikolaevna Borisova was born on January 5, 1925 in the village of Smoleevka (now - Uholovsky district of the Ryazan region ). In 1946 she graduated from the Ryazan State Pedagogical Institute , after which she worked in secondary school as a teacher of Russian language and literature, then as a director. Subsequently, she transferred to teaching work in the system of higher educational institutions, worked at Balashov State Pedagogical Institute and Bashkir State University .

From 1961 she lived in Smolensk , worked at the Smolensk State Pedagogical Institute . In 1979 she defended her thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philology on the topic: "Problems of the formation and development of the vocabulary of the Russian language of the late XVI-XVIII centuries."; In the same year she was approved as a professor in the Russian language department. In 1980 - 1990 she headed this department.

Simultaneously with the teaching work Borisova was actively engaged in research activities. She has published more than 100 scientific papers, including articles included in eight editions of the academic Russian Dictionary of the XI-XVII centuries. For more than thirty years, Borisova studied the vocabulary of the Smolensk region and its development throughout the historical process. She supervised a scientific school that developed the problems of historical lexicography , lexicology , onomastics . Together with his students, Borisov compiled the Regional Historical Dictionary. Under her leadership, was defended 9 master's theses. In addition, she has for many years entered the dissertation council in philological sciences.

She died January 26, 2008 , buried in the New Smolensk cemetery .

She was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation (July 29, 2002).
