Creation History

The project was first announced in April 2014, and it was originally supposed that Day Before would be a web series on the YouTube portal [6] , but this format was not implemented, as after six months of negotiations, the Beeline mobile operator refused from financing the series [7] . Then, based on the initial idea, the project was transformed into a full-length film, for which four stories in different genres (drama, melodrama, comedy and social satire) were selected from over twenty scripts written for him [8] , and in 2015 the picture received funding from The movie foundation [9] . The film premiered in August 2016 at the Window to Europe film festival [10] . The movie was supposed to be released at the box office in March 2017 with a limited release of 150-200 copies [8] , but three months before the release, the Paradise distributor canceled the screening for unknown reasons [11] . According to Alexander Kott, difficulties with the release of the film for hire may be due to the fact that in one of the short stories shot by Boris Khlebnikov, the image of the Minister of Culture is ridiculed [12] . The wide premiere of the film took place on January 15, 2019 on the website of the online cinema ivi.ru [13] .

Rewards

In 2016, director Boris Khlebnikov and screenwriter Pyotr Todorovsky received the diploma of the OMNIBUS film almanac competition at the Kinoshok film festival for their ability to laugh at the edge of a dark abyss for their novel “Heritage of Humanity ” [14] .
