Ternó [1] ( fr. Ternaux ) is a twill weave woolen fabric made from high-quality yarn, for the manufacture of which there was a goat wool [2] .
The fabric of goat down appeared at the end of the XVIII century and was named after the first producer - textile manufacturer Guillaume Louis Terno . Scarves and shawls were made from terno in the era of the Empire . Scarves and shawls from Terno enjoyed great success in Russia in the first half of the nineteenth century [3] . The Northern Bee magazine of 1832 reported that with the onset of heat in Paris , not cloaks were worn, but shawl shawls of the Terno factory. Only wealthy people could afford rather expensive products made of thorns. Mutovkina in “ Poshekhonskoy antiquity ” by M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin is wearing a dress made of real terno. By the time the novel was written, they had already learned how to forge expensive fabric using “ignoble materials”, so prestige fell terno [4] .
