Demodam ( Greek Δημοδάμας ; 3rd century BC ) is an ancient Greek statesman and military leader, geographer , ethnographer from the time of the Seleucid kingdom .

Biography
Born in Miletus . The son of Aristide. During the wars of the diadochos supported Seleucus I , participated in all his wars. Subsequently, he was in the retinue of King Antiochus I. Around 299 BC e. was a member of the city council. He initiated the adoption by Miletus of special decrees in honor of Tsarina Apama I and her son Antiochus I. Demodam played a significant role in establishing the cult of Apollo as the divine ancestor of the Seleucids.
During the years 294-293 and 281-280 BC. e. was a satrap of Bactria and Sogdiana . During his cadence, he made several military campaigns in the area of the Yaksart River against the Saks and Massagets . At the same time, he investigated the lives of the latter. On the border established an altar to Apollo Didim. Restored the city of Alexandria Eskhata .
Creativity
He was the author of a number of books on history and ethnography, which were not preserved. The first gave a description of the history of the first Seleucids , Miletus and Halicarnassus , as well as an autobiography. Ethnographic works were devoted to the life of the tribes of Central Asia . They were used by Strabo , Pliny the Elder , Stephen the Byzantine .
