Born October 9, 1993 in the United States ( Garner , North Carolina ), mother Judy (née Cooke) and father Michael McCreery [2] [3] . His parents initially planned to name the son of Evan, but changed their minds on the way to the hospital [1] . Scotty is a quarter Puerto Rican ; his father, a system analyst at Schneider Electric , was born in the city of Aguadilla ( Puerto Rico ), his father is an American soldier who served there, and his Puerto Rican mother is from San Juan [4] [5] [6] . Scottie's mother works as a real estate agent in Fonville Morisey [7] [8] . She also owns her own solarium in Clayton, North Carolina, named At the Beach. [7] Scotty has an older sister, Ashley, who is studying at UNC Charlotte [6] [9] . Both grew up in Garner [6] [10] [11] .

Scotty is a Christian. [12] [13] He studied at the Garner Magnet High School , graduated in 2012 [14] and then enrolled at the University of North Carolina in Raleigh (North Carolina) [15] [16] . Although he is a quarter Puerto Rican, the singer does not speak Spanish, but regrets that he did not learn this as a child [5] . In September 2017, he proposed to his longtime girlfriend Gabi Dugal. They plan to get married in 2018 [17] .

Awards and nominations

He was awarded the American Order of the Long Leaf Pine in 2017. The singer accepted this award on stage during a performance at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville , Tennessee. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is North Carolina's highest civilian award. He was nominated for this award by the outgoing Governor Patrick McCrory and awarded the new Governor Roy Cooper [18] .
