Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a collection of remasters of the first three games in the Spyro the Dragon series , developed by Toys For Bob and published by Activision on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms . This collection includes remasters of Spyro the Dragon , Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon , originally developed by Insomniac Games for the PlayStation . The game was released on November 13, 2018 [1] [2] . The game was announced after the publication of a similarly executed remaster Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy , which was also published by Activision [3] .

Development
Andrew House, director of Sony Computer Entertainment, told the Daily Telegraph in July 2014 what they thought about returning Spyro, stating that “this is a shift for us, we started to say that there could be nothing bad in going back and looking at the characters that people are still talking about, and that were a big part of their childhood or youth, and I certainly would not close the door to this ” [4] .
In September 2014, giving an interview to IGN at the EGX conference of that year, the director of Insomniac Games Ted Price said that the creation of a new game on Spayro is possible, and added that “Activision coped well with Spyro. They resurrected him, and, in my opinion, Skylanders is still about Spyro. The game has the same aesthetics, the same high appeal, and they did a great job of attracting new fans to this character and his world. It is very difficult to do in an era when many games are darker and rougher. We will always love Spyro. I learned to say "never say never", so ... who knows? " [5] .
Shortly after the publication of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy in 2017, the developers of Vicarious Visions commented that they were aware of how high the request was that the classic Spyro trilogy receive the same attention, and noted "just keep asking" [6] .
Spyro Reignited Trilogy was officially announced on April 5, 2018 [7] . Thomas Kenny , who voiced Spyro in Ripto's Rage , Year of the Dragon and Enter the Dragonfly , reverted to his role in Reignited Trilogy , and re-voiced the roles in the first game that Carlos Alazraki was engaged in [8] [9] . The soundtrack, written by Stuart Copeland , was also remastered for re-release [8] .
The game was originally scheduled for release on September 21, 2018, but was postponed until November 13, 2018 [10] [11] [12] . The physical edition of Reignited Trilogy contains the complete Spyro the Dragon game, as well as some of the levels from Ripto's Rage! and Year of the Dragon . The remaining levels must be downloaded as an update [13] [14] .
