Biography

Heir, later owner of a textile company. Chasing began in the race sedans in the company of Carl Kling and Fritz Riesz. During World War II, he served as a parachutist. In the early 50s he began playing in the race of sports cars and Formula 2 national level. Took second place in the sports car race in Hockenheim in 1950, in the same year he won the Solitude race ( him. Solituderennen ), in 1952 became the third in the Eifel races, also in Hockenheim. Received an offer to speak for the team from the chief Mercedes Alfred Neubauer, but refused.

The peak of Kurt's career was the year 1953, when he was invited to the Rudi Fisher team " Ecurie Espadon ". For this team behind the wheel of a Ferrari 500, he took part in the Eifel races, finishing fourth with a lag of almost a minute, then in July with the same car could not get to the finish line of the Afus races. In August, he took part in the only Formula 1 Grand Prix for himself. This time at his disposal was an outdated Ferrari 166C model, so the results turned out to be relevant - in the qualification he was the 27th of 34 participants, in the race came down already on the 4th lap. Subsequently, a short time acted in the mountain races, after which he ended his racing career and went into the family business.

In the mid-1990s, after Michael Schumacher ’s transfer to Ferrari, he was briefly drawn to the attention of the press again, as he was the first German to drive a Ferrari car in Formula 1.

He died in January 2012.
