Ship Description
One of six Donder-type sailing bombardment ships built in 1751-1771 at the shipyards of St. Petersburg and Kronstadt according to the project of the shipbuilder D. Sutherland [comm. 1] . The length of the ship, according to various sources, was 28.9-29 meters [comm. 2] , width - 8.2-8.23 meters [comm. 3] , the depth of the intrum is 3.3 meters [comm. 4] and draft - 3.35-3.7 meters. The armament of the vessel was 10 guns, including mortars and howitzers , and the crew consisted of 100 people [1] [2] [3] .
Service History
The Jupiter bombardier ship was laid down at the Kronstadt shipyard on January 27 ( February 7 ), 1771 and, after launching on May 30 ( June 10 ), 1771 , became part of the Baltic Fleet of Russia . The construction of the ship was carried out by a ship foreman in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel V. A. Selyaninov according to the project of a ship foreman of major rank D. Sutherland [3] [4] [5] [6] .
In 1776, as part of a squadron, he took part in practical voyages in the Gulf of Finland near Krasnaya Gorka, and on July 7 ( 18 ), 1776 , he also took part in the viewing of the Baltic Fleet by Empress Catherine II at the Kronstadt Raid [4] [7] .
In the campaign of 1777, he was at the port of Kronstadt and went on a practical voyage to the Gulf of Finland as part of a squadron of ships of the Baltic Fleet [4] [8] .
In 1780, the Jupiter bombardment ship was dismantled [3] [4] [9] .
