Sokolovaya Street is one of the longest thoroughfares of the city . It starts at the auto-pedestrian bridge over the Volga and ends in the Leninsky district .

At the beginning of the 19th century, several blocks of the future street were built up near the Volga, which later ran along the slope of Sokolovaya Mountain and became known as Sokolovaya Street. According to legend, in the Sokolová Hill, in ancient times, a dense forest was growing, in which falcons were found, valued as hunters of birds during the hunt for swans, ducks, herons, and cranes. From here, caught falcons in special, felted boxes were delivered to Moscow , to the sovereign's court. On the way, the local authorities gave money to feed the birds and the people accompanying them.
There was even such a post - the head of Sokol Mountain, who monitored the condition of the forest and kept the other riches of the mountain.
At the same time, soil studies do not confirm the fact that there was once a dense forest on the mountain, and consequently, falcons.
The name of the street, most likely, comes from the first settler, nicknamed Falcon or by the name of Sokolov. For the first time Sokolov Street is mentioned in 1838 .
In August 1965, Sokolovaya Street was renamed Vladimir Antonov-Saratovsky Street.
Nowadays, the street has returned the historical name - Sokolovaya.
