Leonid Nikolaevich Gorev (August 3, 1939 - November 18, 1999) - Soviet and Ukrainian hydrogeologist, hydrochemist, doctor of geographical sciences (1987), professor (1988), head of the department of hydrology and hydrochemistry of the geographical faculty of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv . Honorary Worker of the Hydrometeorological Service of Ukraine.

Biography
Born on August 3, 1939 in Romny , Sumy region . He graduated in 1963 from Kiev University with a degree in geology and hydrogeology. He worked as an engineer-hydrogeologist, in 1966-1971 - the head of the party of the Kievgeology Trust. Since 1971, he worked at Kiev University as a senior researcher at the problematic research laboratory of hydrochemistry, later as an assistant professor, professor [1] . In 1993-1999 - Head of the Department of Hydrology and Hydrochemistry (now Hydrology and Hydroecology) of the Faculty of Geography. The candidate dissertation was defended in 1971, the doctoral dissertation “Theoretical and methodological foundations of the hydrochemistry of irrigated lands” was defended in 1986 at the Rostov-on-Don Hydrochemical Institute.
He developed and taught specialized courses in hydrochemistry: “Reclamation hydrochemistry”, “Regional hydrochemistry”, “Methods of hydrochemical research”, etc. He created seven new special courses.
He investigated the problems of reclamation hydrochemistry, the basics of modeling in hydrochemistry and hydroecology, and optimization of the environment [2] . He was engaged in research related to the problem of assessing, forecasting, regulating, managing and optimizing the quality of natural waters, improving the efficiency of irrigation land reclamation, and theoretical issues of hydrochemistry. The author of more than 200 scientific papers, including 41 books.
