Coquimatlan ( Spanish: Coquimatlán ) is a municipality in Mexico , Colima , with an administrative center in the city of the same name . The population according to the 2010 census was 19,385 .

General information
The name Coquimatlán from the Nahuatl language can be translated as “the place of fishing and hunting for white-winged doves ” [3] .
The area of the municipality is 527 km², which is 9.11% of the total state [4] . It borders with other municipalities in the state of Colima : in the north with Villa de Alvarez , in the east with Colima , in the south with Tecoman and Armeria , in the west with Manzanillo , and in the north-west with Minatitlan .

According to statistics from 2000, the working population is employed by sectors of the economy in the following proportions: agriculture, livestock and fishing - 41.6%, industry and construction - 18.2%, services and tourism - 37.4%, etc. - 2.8% [4] .
