History
The band appeared in 2011, after the collapse of the Hunter Gatherer , [1] the post-rock band existed from 2008 to 2010, in which Josh Smith, John Hellwig and Matthew Beer participated. The original line-up soon expanded to include Conor Murphy, who was then bassist for the Emo Family Might band and previously indie singer and post-rock band Torchlight Red . Foxing also included guitarist Ben Helman from the melodic post-punk band Eagle Scout . [2] By the fall of 2011, Helman left the band, and Jim Fitzpatrick from Falsetto Boy and Muscle Brain took his place. During the period of their formation, the group called itself "She Hums in the Swarms" before changing its name to "Foxing" in October 2011.
In January 2012, the band recorded the EP “Old Songs”. In March 2012, the band changes its lineup again: guitarists Matthew Piva and Jim Fitzpatrick leave, and Samuel Naumann from Torchlight Red and Ricky Sampson from the emo -rock band Badgerhunt take their place . [3] Nauman left the band in May 2012, and Thomas Pini, who was the lead vocalist and guitarist for Family Might, replaced him. [4] In August 2012, Foxing released Old Songs. [5] In February 2013, in St. Louis, the band released two splits with Send Away Stranger and Japanese Breakfast via Carucage Records. In the same month, Pini left the band, replaced by Eric Hudson from Torchlight Red , Family Might and Jimshorts . [6] In March 2013, Foxing set out on their first Midwest tour, in which they signed a contract with Count Your Lucky Stars. [7] [8]
Foxing released their debut album, "The Albatross", in November 2013 via Count Your Lucky Stars. [9] In 2014, the group goes to Triple Crown Records. [10] On the new label, the band re-releases the album. [11] In the spring of 2014, Foxing , along with Adventures and Seahaven, arrange a tour. Also in 2014, the band went on a headliner summer tour with The Hotelier . [12] In October 2014, the band played on opening with Brand New and Modern Baseball . [13] In the summer of 2015 in Philadelphia, they participated in the mewithoutYou tour to warm up the new Pale Horses album. [14] Also, in summer, “The Albatross” appears in the UK . [15] On August 3, it was announced that the second album of the group “Dealer” would be released in the fall. [16] “Dealer” reached the 3rd position on the Billboard vinyl record charts . [17] Foxing arranges a winter tour in collaboration with The World Is A Beautiful Place to Die . [18]
In March and April 2016, the band embarked on a US tour with the support of Lymbyc Systym , O'Brother and Tancred . Immediately after that, they went on their first tour of the UK and Europe with This Town Needs Guns . This tour includes dates in Copenhagen, Denmark and Reykjavik.
