Oscar Borisovich Feltsman was born on February 18, 1921 in Odessa in a Jewish family. Father - orthopedic surgeon Boris Iosifovich Feltsman, mother - Tsilya Abramovna Feltsman (1899-1984). In 1933, according to the sketches of B. I. Feltsman, the construction of a children's sanatorium for 350 beds “Lustdorf” near Odessa for patients with osteoarticular tuberculosis, which Boris Iosifovich headed at the end of construction, was begun. [2] Father played the piano professionally. From early childhood, Oscar Feltsman did not miss a single concert of musicians who performed and toured in Odessa.
At the age of five, Oscar Feltsman began playing the violin with the famous teacher Peter Stolyarsky , but soon moved to the piano class.
