Biography

In 1964 he graduated from the Faculty of History and Philosophy of the Kiev State University. T.G. Shevchenko. In 1964-1967 he was an assistant to the Nikolaev Shipbuilding Institute named after Admiral Makarov .

At the Taras Shevchenko Kiev National University: since 1970 he worked as an assistant, since 1972 - senior lecturer, since 1976 - associate professor of the history department of the CPSU of natural faculties; Since 1986 - Professor of the Department of CPSU History at the Institute for Advanced Studies of Teachers of Social Sciences at Kiev University; since 1992 - professor, in 1996-2002 he headed the department of Ukrainian history and ethnopolitics of the history department [1] . He retired in 2005 [2] .

He taught courses "History of the CPSU", "Political History", "History of Ukraine". Prepared 23 candidates of historical sciences.

Research interests: social and political, cultural life of Ukraine in the 1920s – 30s, ethnopolitical relations in Ukraine of the 19th — 20th centuries, certain problems of the world history of the interwar period.

Candidate dissertation "The Communist Party in the struggle for the mobilization of the working class to fulfill the first five-year plan (On materials of the Communist Party of Ukraine)" (1971), doctoral thesis "The leadership of the Communist Party of Ukraine on the development of industry in the republic during the period of socialist industrialization of the USSR. 1926-1937 ”(1984).

Author of more than 70 scientific papers.

The daughter, Tatyana Gorban, followed in the footsteps of her father, also becoming a historian.
