Biography
Zoil I came from the dynasty of Eutidemas. However, there is no reliable information about his parents. After his death in 130 BC. e. the Indo-Greek king Menander I , taking advantage of the infancy of King and the weakness of the power of the regent , managed to capture Parorpamisada, and then Arachosia. However, perhaps in Arachosia Zoil I began to rule after 150 BC. e. It is likely that at first he was the satrap of Menander I, and subsequently subjugated these lands.
Around 120 BC e. repulsed the attempt of Straton I to conquer the Paropamisades, after which Zoil I went on the offensive and conquered the mountainous regions of modern Punjab . After that he moved the capital to Taxila .
A significant amount of silver-nickel tetradrachms of Zoil I was revealed, which were minted according to the analogue of and . At the same time, began to mint bilingual inscriptions - in the ancient Greek language and piles. Bronze coins had an image in which the influence of the yuezhi who captured the Greco-Bactrian kingdom can be traced. Analysis of the numismatic heritage of this king indicates a certain influence of Buddhism during the time of Zoil I. Lysius I inherited it.
