Biography
Leonid Vasilievich Groshev was born on March 15, 1907 in the Ivanovo region . In 1929, Leonid Vasilievich graduated from Kazan University . L. V. Groshev worked as a teacher at the Central Asian State University , Leningrad Electrophysical Institute .
Since 1933 - Leonid Vasilievich was an employee of the Physics Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences for 20 years.
In 1935 - a candidate of physical and mathematical sciences without defending a dissertation. In 1940, Groshev L.V. defended his doctoral dissertation.
In 1951 he was transferred to the Institute of Atomic Energy. I.V. Kurchatova , since 1961 he headed the IAE Department of Nuclear Physics.
At Moscow State University, he worked as a professor in 1946-1974 , as the head of the Department of Nuclear Spectroscopy No. 5 / ( 1949-1972 ) of the Faculty of Physics. Leonid Vasilievich was the head of the laboratory of nuclear spectroscopy of the Research Institute of Nuclear Physics .
During the Great Patriotic War, Leonid Vasilievich Groshev was engaged in defense topics. L. V. Groshev participated in studies of neutron multiplication in uranium-graphite systems, the results of these works were used to create the first atomic reactors.
Since 1953, Professor Groshev L.V. conducted fundamental research on the gamma-ray spectra of radiation capture of thermal neutrons by nuclei; these works brought Leonid Vasilievich the greatest fame. Under the direction of Leonid Vasilievich Groshev, an atlas of the spectra of gamma rays of radiation capture of thermal neutrons was published, which is still the handbook of nuclear scientists.
The works of Professor L. V. Groshev were highly appreciated: in 1965 he was elected a member of the Danish Academy ; in 1969, for a series of studies on gamma-ray spectra from neutron capture, the team of authors under the leadership of Leonid Vasilyevich Groshev was awarded the State Prize .
At Moscow State University, Professor L. V. Groshev taught courses: "Introduction to Nuclear Physics," "Neutron Physics," and "Nuclear Spectroscopy."
Leonid Vasilyevich Groshev died on June 4, 1974 in the city of Moscow , and was buried in the Novodevichy cemetery [1] .
