Anatomy Features
They are characterized by a certain shift of the main apex of the molars: lingually in the upper row and labially in the lower. The inner edge of the upper molar forms a lingual expansion with a thickening - the rudiment of scingulum, on the basis of which the protocone of the tribosphenic molar was then formed. Thanks to this, the taste improved, which allowed more efficient processing of food in the oral cavity. On the lower molars, the main peaks are very high, in the posterior part there is a small additional vertex, which is converted in more advanced mammals into a talonid. Because of this, they were often ranked as teria, but their lower jaw is still with a medial furrow. Perhaps the presence of postdental bones [1] .
