The Center for Portuguese-Brazilian Studies ( Port Centro de estudos luso-brasileiros , English Center for Portuguese and Brazilian Studies ) is one of the international cultural centers operating at St. Petersburg State University .
The center was established in 1995 [1] at the initiative of G. K. Neustroeva and B. N. Komissarova . The center is attended by teachers, students and graduates of the Portuguese branch of the department of romance philology of the philological faculty of the university, as well as specialists from other university faculties and scientific organizations whose interests are somehow related to the Portuguese language and culture of Portuguese-speaking countries.
Since the organization of the center, teachers of St. Petersburg State University I. A. Khokhlova , A. M. Gakh , A. V. Rodossky , E. S. Nikolaeva , V. A. Katin , MAE RAS employees E. S. Sobolev took an active part in its work . and A.D. Dridzo , historian I.S. Sharkov and others.
The center regularly holds international scientific conferences, maintains close contacts with various universities and cultural associations in Portugal and Brazil . In particular, they attended the Ambassador of Russia to Portugal A.P. Smirnov , the President of the Portuguese-Russian Cultural Association ( port. Associação cultural luso-russa ) N.L. Cardozo, the President of the International Academy of Portuguese Culture J. A. Agiar ( port. Joaquim António de Aguiar ) and others.
