Biography

Petr Petrovich Alekseev was born on June 16, 1916 in the village of Aleksandrovo (now Staritsky district of the Tver region ). He began his career at the age of sixteen as a mechanic at one of the Leningrad enterprises. Without a break from production, he graduated from the school of factory apprenticeship and rabfak. Subsequently entered the Leningrad State Medical Institute. The Great Patriotic War met a third-year student.

Since the beginning of the war, Alekseev was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . He served as a surgeon in the hospital first, then in the medical battalion of the 63rd Guards Rifle Division . In 1947, he graduated from the S. Kirov Military Medical Academy , after which he served in various military medical units in the Far East. In 1951 he returned to Leningrad , worked in the clinic of general surgery of the Military Medical Academy. Here he defended his first candidate and then his doctoral thesis. He was transferred to the reserve in the rank of lieutenant colonel of the medical service, after which he moved to the city of Kalinin , worked for some time at the Kalinin State Medical Institute .

In 1962, Alekseev went to work at the Smolensk State Medical Institute , where he was elected head of the department of faculty surgery. Supervised her until 1984 . He was actively engaged in scientific activities, published a total of 245 scientific papers, including 3 monographs and 2 practical guides for students of medical universities. Supervised the defense of 18 PhD theses. With his direct participation, specialized vascular surgery services — the poisoning resuscitation center and the cardiovascular surgical center — were among the first to be established throughout the Soviet Union. He was a member of the editorial board of the journal “ Bulletin of Surgery ”, a member of the board of the All-Russian Society of Surgeons, an Honorary Member of the Leningrad Surgical Society named after N. I. Pirogov .

He died on May 7, 2007, and was buried in Smolensk’s Brilevsky cemetery.

He was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War , 2nd degree, two orders of the Red Star , along with a number of medals.
