Biography
Nikolai Aleksandrovich Yudenich was born on May 22, 1900 in the village of Shestakovo (now a village in the Kardymovsky district of the Smolensk region ). In 1925, he graduated from the medical faculty of Smolensk State University (subsequently separated into an independent Smolensk State Medical Institute ), after which he began to teach at the Department of Physiology. In 1941, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "On the mechanism of excitation through the nerve endings of the skeletal muscle." During World War II, Yudenich was evacuated, taught at the Stalinabad and Makhachkala state medical institutes.
After the liberation of Smolensk, Yudenich returned to work at the Smolensk State Medical Institute. In 1944, he was elected head of the department of physiology, led it until his death. He made a great contribution to the post-war restoration of the institute, turned the department headed by him into one of the foremost. Among his students are future prominent figures in medical science and pedagogy: A. N. Kartavenko, S. G. Khanin, K. K. Komeshko, G. M. Tsvetkova, V. S. Yurasov, P. A. Stepanova, L. A. Bykovskaya, G.S. Grinin. In parallel with the pedagogical work, he was actively engaged in research activities. Published a total of 48 scientific papers. Particular attention was paid to the transmission of nerve excitations to the muscle. In addition, he was chairman of the Smolensk branch of the All-Union Society of Physiologists, Biochemists and Pharmacologists.
He died on February 12, 1958, and was buried in the Blade cemetery in Smolensk .
He was awarded the Order of Lenin (10/27/1953), the medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War" (12/13/1946).
