Biography
Ingrid Eberle was born on June 3, 1957 in the city of Dornbirn , Vorarlberg . She first went skiing at the age of six, was trained under the guidance of her father, a skier, who spoke in this sport in the 1950s. She trained with her older sister Sigrid , who later also became a fairly well-known skier. Since 1970, she won at various junior competitions at the regional and national level [1] [2] .
In 1973, she entered the main squad of the Austrian national team and made her debut in the World Cup, in particular she took sixth place in the downhill at the stage in Swiss St. Moritz. In subsequent seasons, it showed quite good results at the stages of the world cup, but could not win any of the stages - it got only silver and bronze medals. She showed much better results in the European Cup, where a total of 16 times rose to the podium, including three stages she won.
She won the 1980 Austrian championship in giant slalom and thanks to a series of successful performances she won the right to defend the country's honor at the Lake Placid Winter Olympics - in the slalom she took the thirteenth place in the sum of two attempts, finished the fourteenth in the giant slalom, she showed the sixth in the downhill result. In the standings of the combination, she was in third position, letting forward only the representative of Liechtenstein, Hanni Wenzel and the US alpine skier Cindy Nelson , although this discipline was not part of the Olympic program at that time, and the received bronze award went solely to offset the World Cup.
After the Olympics, for some time, Eberle remained in the main ski team in Austria and continued to take part in major international competitions. So, in 1982, she attended the World Championships in Schladming , where she took thirteenth place in slalom. In the same year, she became the country's champion in combination and soon decided to end her sports career.
After leaving the big sport, she opened a sporting goods store in Bregenz .
