Biography
Born September 9, 1905 in Sim in a working class family. After graduating from high school in 1923 he entered the history department of Nizhny Novgorod State University , which he graduated in 1928. He worked as a history teacher in secondary schools, then headed the regional education department, subsequently was elected deputy head of the school department of the Central Committee of the CPSU , then worked as deputy minister of Culture and Education of the RSFSR. In 1959, he was elected to the post of director of the GBL and worked in this position until his death. He did a lot for the library - improved its activities, helped in the development of a new building. The main scientific publications are devoted to improving library work.
He died on November 19, 1969 in Moscow.
