Biography
The son of a former member of the National Assembly, Jean Bizet graduated from the Chateaubriand Lyceum in Rennes , the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Creteil and the Alfort National Veterinary School. In 1973 he began to work as a veterinarian in his native village of Le Tayolle.
In 1983, Jean Bizet was first elected mayor of Le Tayolle and held this post for 31 years. In March 1985, he was elected to the General Council of the English Channel from the canton of Teyol .
In 1996, after the resignation of Senator Jean-Pierre Tyson, he ran for the first time as a senator and managed to win this election. Subsequently, four more times, in 1998, 2004, 2011 and 2017, he was re-elected to the Senate, moreover, three times in a personal vote, and in 2017 - at the head of his own list. In 2010, he was elected chairman of the Senate Committee on European Affairs.
During the election campaign in 2016, he actively supported Nicolas Sarkozy , was his adviser on agricultural issues. At the Party Congress, Republicans in December 2017 supported Laurent Vauquier .
In the Senate, he supports the development of Genetically modified organisms , including for their cultivation in open ground.
