Alexanderson, Eve

Eva Ingrid Elizabeth Alexandererson ( Swede. Eva Alexanderson ; January 9, 1911 - December 20, 1994 ) - Swedish writer, translator and publisher. Her most famous works are the lesbian novel Kontradans (1969) and the translation into Swedish of the novel by the Italian writer Umberto Eco “The Name of the Rose” (1983).

Biography

Eva Ingrid Elizabeth Alexanderson was born in 1911 near Vasastan, Stockholm . In 1930 she graduated from high school, in 1935 she received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Lund [1] [2] . Then she worked for three years at the publishing house Svenska Bokförlag. During these years she traveled to France, Italy and Spain. In 1937, Jose Ortega y Gasset, the Invertebrates of Spain , translated from Spanish. At the beginning of World War II, she began writing for the anti-Nazi newspaper Nu . In 1944 she married Lundstrem Gustaf (Gustaf Ragnvald Lundström). Spouses divorced in 1946.

After the war, from 1946 to 1955, Alexander Alexander worked at the Bonnier Group . In the 1940s she translated and published several works by Jean-Paul Sartre , Simon de Beauvoir and Jean-Gene . Other writers whose works she translated include Albert Camus , Jean-Jacques Rousseau , Fyodor M. Dostoevsky , François-Rene de Chateaubriand , Alain Rob-Grillet, and Dario Fo . Her debut novel, Resa till smältpunkten , was published in 1954, also published in poor developing countries. In 1967, she published the religious story Pilgrimsfärd .

Her translation into Swedish of the novel of the Italian writer Umberto Eco “The Name of the Rose” (1983) was well received by critics and readers, and in 1985 he received the prize Letterstedtska priset. That same year, she won the prize Samfundet De Nio. Known for her lesbian novel Kontradans (1969), the last novel Sparkplats för jungfrun - ett socialmänskligt collage , was published in 1992, two years before the writer's death.
