Dayr-ez-Zaur , formerly Deir-ez-Zor ( Arabic: دير الزور ) - district (mintaka) as part of the governorate of Dayr-ez-Zaur , Syria . The administrative center is the city of Deir ez-Zor.

Geography
The area is located in the east of Syria. In the north it borders with Al-Hasaka governorate , in the east with Iraq , in the south with the districts of Mayadin and Abu Kamal , in the west with the governorate of Homs , and in the north-west with the governorate of Al-Raqqa .
