Sultanov, Ismagil Khusainovich

Biography

Born on November 14, 1890 in the village of Kutuevo, Verkhneuralsk district, Orenburg province. The large family of the Sultanovs was engaged in tillage and cattle breeding. From an early age, Ismagil helped parents in household matters in spring and summer. The desire of the son was supported by the parents and found the opportunity to send him to the famous Ufa madrasah “Galiya”, which was then considered the most prestigious secondary educational institution for Tatars and Bashkirs, as well as residents of Central Asia.

1913-1917 - teacher of the Zemstvo school

Member of the Civil War. Until 1920 in the Red Army. Member of the RCP (b).

1920 - 4.1925 - Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Tamyan-Kataev Canton Council (Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic)

4.1925 - 05/31/1927 - People's Commissar of Internal Affairs of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic

In September 1923 he was appointed deputy Bashnarkomtrud, and soon the People's Commissar of Internal Affairs and deputy chairman of the Council of People's Commissars. He was a member of the Presidium of the Bashkir regional committee of the RCP (b). While working in these responsible posts, he did not spare himself and quickly undermined his health. He was sent for treatment to Kislovodsk, where, despite some temporary improvement, on May 31, 1927 he died of heart failure.

Memory

In memory of Ismagil Sultanov, a street was named in the Soviet district of Ufa, running parallel to Gafuri Street from Sverdlov to Krasin. A street named after Sultanov exists in the city of Uchaly, in its small homeland. It was named in recent times. In the native village of Kutuevo, the secondary school bears the name of Ismagil Sultanov, his bust is installed at the school.
