Biography

The early years

Crook was the daughter of Major Knut Crook (1872-1947) and Margaret Svensson (1900-1989). She grew up in Norrtalje . After working for some time after the Second World War as a stewardess , she moved from Rome to Stockholm and entered the theater school of the Royal Drama Theater to become an actress. Her classmates included Jan-Olof Strandberg, Allan Edwall , Lars Ekborg, Max Von Sydow and Jan Malmschö.

Acting career

During her acting career, Krok often played the roles of strong women, such as mother Courage , Gertrude Stein or the third wife of Eugene O'Neill , Carlotta Monterey , in the play by Lars Noren Och ge oss skuggorna [3] , which was filmed for SVT .

Krok also performed comedic roles both on stage and in cinema, including his mother in the film Jöst Ekman Morrhår och ärtor (1986), appeared in several films of Tage Danielsson, including Släpp fångarne loss, det är vår! (1975), for which she won the Golden Beetle Award for Best Actress and The Adventures of Picasso (1978). She also starred with Hans Alfredson and Powel Ramels in the Tingel tangel på Tyrol review in 1989-1990.

Krok also gained fame on Swedish radio in the På minuten entertainment program, but she exclaimed in the history of television in the Skattkammarön television sketch , “Ta 'rej i brasan!”. In 1974, Crock was awarded an O'Neill scholarship. For the younger generation, she became famous thanks to the audio recordings of children's books by Eva Bexels from the Morfar prosten series, released on cassettes and CDs .

Death and Heritage

Margareta Crook died of cancer at the Erst Hospital in Stockholm . June 20, 2001 she was buried in the cemetery Galervarvskirkogorden on the island of Djurgarden in Stockholm [4] [5] . Shortly afterwards, a statue of the actress appeared at the Royal Drama Theater . It was installed at the initiative of Marie-Louise Ekman on the corner where Margareta Crook often smoked before performances. The monument has become a popular tourist attraction.
