Biography
Born on January 8, 1913. In 1931 he entered the State Library School in Copenhagen , which he graduated in 1936. After graduating from library school he was engaged in practical library activities. In 1946 he was elected director of the County Vejle Library , and held this position until 1956. In 1956 he was elected director of the Royal School Library and Information Science in Copenhagen . For some time he lived in the USA and taught at library schools. In 1952, U. was elected an expert in library science at IFLA and UNESCO, and eventually became a library activist on an international scale.
He died in 2002.
Scientific work
The main scientific works are devoted to library science. Author of over 300 scientific papers and monographs “ Danish Public Libraries ” (1948).
