Lower Ondomozero is a small freshwater lake located in the southeastern part of the Kola Peninsula 28 km (17 miles) from the White Sea coast , to the basin of which it belongs [2] .

It is located on the territory of the Tersky district of the Murmansk region of Russia west of the Middle Ondomozero and the Upper Ondomozero . Along with them and other smaller lakes, it is part of the Ondomozero Lake-Swamp Complex [3] .
Lower Ondomozero is one of the largest lakes in the Murmansk region . It has an elongated form from north to south and is surrounded by marshland. The largest volume of water in the lake comes from the Middle Ondomozero , with which it is connected only by a small strait about 300 m (980 ft ) long. In the southern part of the Lower Ondomozero, the Chavanga River flows into the White Sea .
