Biography
Herman Senator was born on December 6, 1834 in the city of Gniezno in a Jewish family. After graduating from a university in Berlin and receiving a doctor’s degree in medicine in 1857 (his mentors were Schönlein , Müller , Traube ), for ten years he was engaged in private practice and acquired the name of an outstanding therapist, which prompted the university, despite its Jewish origin, to offer him lecturing on internal medicine [3] [4] .
Since 1872, the Senator became one of the editors of Centralblatt für die medizinische Wissenschaft [3] [5] .
In 1875, G. Senator was appointed extraordinary professor and chief manager in Berlin [3] [6] .
In 1881, Herman Senator was also approved as director of the Charité clinic [7] , and since 1888 he began to manage the university clinic of internal diseases [8] [3] .
Despite his big name and the administration of the clinic and clinic, Herman Senator, because of his Jewishness, did not receive residency and remained in the rank of honored professor, however, having received the title of Privy Councilor [3] .
The senator owns works ο treating fever , ο isolating protein in a healthy and diseased state, ο diseases of the organs of motion, ο diseases of the kidneys, etc. [3] .
The name of the Senator was also popular at the time among Russian Jews , who met with warmth on his part. The senator also took part in Jewish public life, adhering, according to his convictions, to the orthodox rather than the liberal current among German Jews [3] .
Senator Peru owns a significant number of outstanding works in various fields of medicine ; his work “ Albuminurie im gesunden und kranken Zustande ” (1882) was translated into many European languages [3] .
Herman Senator died July 14, 1911 in the city of Berlin.
