Zhernovka is a village in the Serpukhov district of the Moscow region . It is part of the rural village of Lipitsky . Less than 500 meters from the border of the village there is a Zhernovka solid waste landfill with an area of 4.1 hectares. Despite the fact that the landfill is already closed, work on its restoration has not yet been organized. [ significance of fact? ] .

Geography
It is located in the southern part of the district, on the right bank of the Oka River on the border with the Tula region . It is located east of the village of Senkino and north of the village of Vyazishchi , at a distance of 10 kilometers from the city of Pushchino .
History
In Soviet times, it was a member of the Balkovsky Village Council , and in the 1990-2000s, it was a member of the Balkovsky Village District . During the 2006 Municipal Reform , the village was included in the rural settlement of Lipitsky.
During Soviet times, a large guarded apple orchard and a pig farm were located in Zhernovka. In the village there is the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord, which in the Soviet period was in a dilapidated condition and used by the local population as a source of building materials. In the 90s of the XX century, the restoration of the church began, since 1995, services have been held in it.
