Education
Norton studied at the gymnasium of King Edward VI in Lauta. He graduated from Sheffield University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and later became a Ph.D. , and a University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Arts degree.
Career
Norton is a government professor in the Department of Politics and International Studies at Hull University, also was the head of the department, from 2002 to 2007.
Since 1992, Director of the Center for Legal Studies.
Norton has been a member of the Hanster Society advisory board since 1997 and a director since 2002.
In 2000, he headed a commission for opposition leader William The Hague with the development of ideas to strengthen the institution of parliament, and from 2001 to 2004 served as chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the House of Lords.
In 2007, The Daily Telegraph called him the 59th most influential person in the field of law in British politics.
Norton is a regular member of the Lords of Blogs, a joint blog of members of the House of Lords to engage the public. The Guardian called it "the new star of the blogosphere." Philip Norton is a member of the Royal Society of Arts. He also has a personal blog, in which he often quotes some of the many crucial responsibilities he holds in political and academic circles. Now, Norton co-chairs the Higher Education Committee and continues to work with the Campaign for an Efficient Second Chamber. Lord Norton has a quiz on Lords of blogs, and also often has his own signature contests in his personal blog. Norton View has attracted some readers from around the world.
