Current
Rope originates from the village Novoivanovka Bashtansky district of the Nikolaev region . The river is 115 km long (within the Kherson region - 53 km), the width of the channel is from 6 to 20 meters, the width of the floodplain is 100-800 meters . At the village of Novopetrovka, the Inguletsky irrigation canal crosses the river, Rope passes under the channel of the canal in the underground collector. The river flows in the Bashtansky , Snigirevsky districts of the Nikolaev region , Belozersky district of the Kherson region , and also in the Dnieper , Suvorov and Ship areas of the city of Kherson .

Flora
The wetland vegetation of the Verevochnaya River occupies most of the riverbanks and is represented mainly by common reed formations. This is a widespread cereal plant . Its thickets play an important ecological role. They purify the river water from pollution, acting as a filter , and also protect the banks from destruction, create favorable conditions for the life and nesting of near-water birds. In addition to the common reed, there are also separate sections of narrow-leaved and broad -leaved cattails , sedge , also single plants of the fence , irises of pseudoair , solanacea , bittersweet, chenoplelectus . On the banks of the river there are willows , narrow-leaved sucker , as well as white and black poplars .
The trees that grow on both sides of the Rope, fix the banks of the river, their seeds serve as food for wintering near-water birds. On the branches of trees, some birds build their nests . On the bark of trees, two species of lichens have been germinated: parmelia and xanthoria .
According to researchers, the area of the floodplain area is 0.4 hectares, there are more than 50 species of herbaceous vegetation on it.
Fauna
In the waters of Rope and on its surface live such aquatic invertebrates such as a medical leech , a water strider , a common swimmer , crayfish , mollusks , coils , river zebra mussel (variable). Mosquito larvae develop in the aquatic environment, which are a valuable element of the natural fish food. In the river today there are perch , pike , crucian carp , bream . Also in the waters of the river are newts , turtles , turtles , frogs and snakes . On the banks of the Rope, especially on the slopes, lizards are found.
The bird world of the river is richly represented. The most common species that occur in autumn: starling , field sparrow , rook , house sparrow , silver gull . In spring and summer, the common swallow , urban swallow, black swift , starling are common. Winter counting of birds shows that they hibernate here: rooks , pigeons , sparrows , gulls , oak trees , starlings . In total, in 2000, 22 species of wintering birds were added.
The account of wintering near-water birds shows that 7 species of birds that belong to 4 orders winter on the river: mallard , teal-cracker , coot , mute swan , moorhen , cormorant , and lapwing . The smallest number of birds recorded in 1997 - 37, and the largest in 2001 - 587 individuals.
Bats live on the banks of the river. Among rodents there are rats , hares , and mice .
Ecological Status
Through the city sewage treatment plants located on the right bank of the Verevochnaya River, 200-250 thousand m³ of municipal and industrial waters of the city pass annually, which, after treatment, are discharged into this river. Certain technical problems that exist at sewage treatment plants, in particular, untimely cleaning of biological ponds, lead to the fact that a large number of pollutants remain in the waters that fall into Rope.
As of June 2010, the Kherson Regional Sanitary and Epidemiological Station investigated water samples of the river. Rope According to the research results, high bacterial contamination of river water was found.
The main environmental problems of the Rope River:
- Lack of coastal protection zones and river protection zones.
- Excessive grazing in a river valley.
- Disposal of household and other garbage by the population in the coastal water protection zone.
