Sergey Stepanovich Sanin (born October 25, 1937, Yeysk ) is a Soviet and Russian scientist and specialist in the protection of agricultural plants. Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2013), RAAS (2005, member since 2001), Doctor of Biological Sciences (1999), Professor (1999). In the years 2000-2014. Director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology, where he has been working since 1974, now there is also the main research fellow. Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (2003).

Biography
He graduated from the Moscow Agricultural Academy. K. A. Timiryazev (1960), Department of Plant Protection [1] .
In 1960-1974 worked at the North Caucasus Research Institute of Phytopathology, the creator of the aerobiology laboratory there, which he was in charge of.
Since 1974, at the All-Russian Research Institute of Phytopathology: Head of the Laboratory, in 1976-1982. Head of Department, 1982–2000 Deputy Director for Research, 2000–2014 Director of this institute, and since 2015 - chief researcher, now also head of the department of epidemiology and phytosanitary of cereal diseases. Prepared 12 candidates of science.
President of the Interregional Society of Phytopathologists, member of the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC). Member of the editorial boards of scientific journals “Plant Protection and Quarantine”, “Phytopathology”, Russian-English journal “Plant Quarantine. Science and practice. ”
He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor (1977), the medal of the Order for Merit to the Fatherland, II degree (1997), the medal Veteran of Labor (1987), and the medal For Valiant Labor. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin ”(1970).
