Garashnitsa

Gareshnitsa ( Croatian Garešnica ) is a city in Croatia , in the central part of the country, in the Belovarsko-Bilogorsk county . Population - 4,252 [1] people. in the city and 11,630 [1] people in the entire community (2001), 82% were Croats [2] .

The garech is located on a flat terrain north of Sava . To the west of the city stretches a chain of hills Moslavinsko Gore.

20 km to the south-west is the city of Kutina , 30 km to the west is Daruvar , 40 km to the north is the capital of the province of Bjelovar . The city is connected by roads with Kutina and Daruvar. Another road leads north-west towards the cities of Chazma and Vrbovets .

The name of the city comes from the word "Gar", that is, "Gar."

There are several industrial enterprises in Gareshnitsa, and several large fish ponds are located to the south of the city. There are many vineyards in the vicinity of Gareshnitsa.

The gaerashnitsa was first mentioned in 1334 . During the Turkish occupation in the XVI century, the city was completely abandoned by the inhabitants, after being liberated from the Turks and going under Austrian rule, was rebuilt. In 1752 , the parish church of Sts. Mary's Not far from Garevnitsa is the hill Garic, on top of which the ruins of the ancient Croatian city Garic, which played a large role in Croatian history, have been preserved, and many famous people were buried in the local monastery.
