In 1914 he graduated with honors from the Second Gymnasium in Ternopil, where his teacher of history was Yuzef Vidaevich . Since 1920 he worked as a teacher in the VIII State Gymnasium and Lyceum in Lviv. In 1923 he graduated from historical studios at the University of Lviv and received his doctoral degree. The topic of the thesis was “Polityka ruska Leszka Białego 1202-1227”, and the head was Stanislav Zakshevsky .

In 1926-1927 he studied for a scholarship of the Czechoslovak government at Charles University in Prague under the leadership of Vaclav Novotny. In 1932-1933 he conducted archival research in Italy (mainly in the Vatican Archive ). In 1932 he moved to the VI State Gymnasium and Lyceum in Lviv. He worked there until 1941 (1937-1941 as a director). In 1934, he habilitated on the basis of the work “Polska i Czechy w drugiej połowie XIII i początkach XIV wieku” and received the title of associate professor at Lviv University.

With the arrival of the Nazis in Lviv in 1941, he was the coordinator of a secret network of secondary education in Lviv. He worked in a construction office and a simple worker at a construction site.

After the war, he ended up in Torun, where on September 30, 1945, he began working at the University of Nicholas Copernicus only . In 1946 he was promoted to emergency professor, and in 1957 - the usual. In 1946-1952 he worked at the Higher Pedagogical School in Gdansk.

In 1948-1950 - prodekan, from 1950 to 1952 - Dean of the Humanities Faculty of the University of Nicolaus Copernicus. In 1950 he organized the Association of the departments of history and in 1952 became its leader. When the Association was transformed into the Institute of History, in 1956-1959 and 1963-1966 he was its director. In 1956-1962 - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the University of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun.

In 1966 he moved on to the emergence . He died on April 9, 1974 in Gdynia, buried in the cemetery of Sv. Yuri in Torun.
