William Crumbein ( 1902 - 1979 ) is a famous American geologist . The medal of the International Association for Mathematical Geology (IAMG) is named after him. This medal was founded at the 25th International Geological Congress in Sydney, in 1976. William Crumbain was one of the founders of IAMG.

Crumbain was born in Beaver Falls , PA , USA , in January 1902 and died on August 18, 1979.
