Biography
Born in the family of a doctor, from an early age she studied foreign languages and arts [6] . During her life she was considered one of the most intelligent and smartest women in Europe and her time. She was married to Johann Christopher Gottshed . Louise met him, sending him one of her works, which impressed him and led to a long correspondence that ended in their marriage. After the wedding, Louise continued to write and publish. She also helped her husband in his literary works [7] : she corresponded, helped to collect the library, translated books and journal articles for him from different European languages [6] . She also independently conducted research and prepared materials for some of her husband’s major works [6] . Her own work on German poetry was not widespread, since no publisher agreed to print a book written by a woman [6] . However, her comedies were successful, although they were published without attribution.
