Biography
Born February 21, 1908 in the village of Volodino , Tver province . In 1930, having studied at a second-level rural school, he entered the Kalinin Pedagogical Institute at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. After graduation, he was sent to the Kolomna Pedagogical College, where he worked from September 1930 to March 1931 as a teacher of physics and mathematics. From March to December 1931 he served in the Red Army in the 1st Chita Rifle Regiment of the 1st Pacific Rifle Division OKDVA. After completing the service, he passed the exams for the reserve platoon commander and was demobilized. After returning home from December 1931 to June 1939 he worked in the city of Kalinin : at the school of FZU of the Kalinin Carriage Works , the Komsomol school of secondary education at the same plant as a director, and then as a director of courses for social workers at the same enterprise, and finally as a director Kalinin Engineering College. In June 1939 he was appointed director of the Stalingrad Mechanical Institute and worked in this post until April 1945 [1] . During the battle of Stalingrad, he was directly involved in the preparation of two machine-gun companies of the working militia at the tractor factory. Under him, the institute was evacuated to Chelyabinsk [2] [3] .
In April 1945, Lovyagin was relieved of his post as director of the media and recalled to the People’s Commissariat for Tank Industry, and from there he was sent to the All-Union Committee on Higher School Affairs under the Council of Ministers of the USSR .
One month he headed the consulting centers and worked as a senior lecturer at the Department of Mathematics at the All-Union Correspondence Industrial Institute in Moscow. Then he was seconded to the Odessa Polytechnic Institute . Here from 1945 to 1952 he worked as a senior lecturer, assistant professor of higher mathematics and the head of the educational unit. In 1950 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. In 1952, he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor at the Department of Higher Mathematics. From September 1952 to April 1955, he headed the department of higher mathematics. From April 1955 to May 1956 he worked as deputy director for academic research. After that, he headed the department of higher mathematics again for four years [1] [4] . In November 1960, he was appointed director of the Sevastopol branch of the Odessa Polytechnic Institute and head of the department of higher mathematics. In January 1964, he was appointed rector of the Sevastopol Instrument-Making Institute, which he directed until the end of the 1980s.
He was awarded two orders “Badge of Honor” and medals “For Labor Valor” , “ For the Defense of Stalingrad ” [1] .
