Biography
Born in Italy , in the city of Lodi , Carlotta studied singing and playing the piano at the Milan Conservatory. Her fellow student at the conservatory was the famous opera singer Giuseppina Strepponi . Ferrari wrote her first opera, entitled Ugo, at the age of 20. However, no one showed any interest in her work, and then she found the means for her first concert in Lecco and took upon herself the organization and management of it. The concert was successful and the opera became widely known not only in Italian society and among critics, but also outside Italy. [3] Subsequent works glorified Ferrari and brought her several awards, including the Order of Merit. [4]
In April 1875, on the recommendation of Ambroise Tom , Ferrari was awarded the honorary title of professor at the Bologna Philharmonic Academy [5] .
In addition to operas, Ferrari published an autobiography, collections of poems in four volumes called Versi e prose. [6] [3] Ferrari also wrote two plays and two novels.
Ferrari wrote operas and cantatas and was considered a master of canon [3] .
