Indore ( Marath. , Also Indur from Hindi इंदौर Indor ) Is the second largest city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh . Located in the natural region of Malva , in the west of the central part of the state, 190 km west of the city of Bhopal . The administrative center of the same district . History

The city was founded in the XVIII century. Ahilia Bai, the daughter-in-law of the head of the Kholkar dynasty, Malhar Rao . For a long time was the capital of the principality of the same name .

Geography and climate

Indore is located in the western part of Madhya Pradesh at the confluence of the Kham and Saraswati rivers. The city is spread out on a flat plateau at an altitude of about 550 meters above sea level, from the south it is limited by the Yardi ridge.

Economy

Currently Indore is an important business center of the region. In the city are large manufacturers of steel and automobiles. Other significant industries include the production of cement, tile, furniture, sports goods, the textile and chemical industries [2] .

Transportation

Indaura Airport ( Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport ) is located 8 km south-east of the city, serves only local flights to destinations such as Delhi , Mumbai , Bhopal , Bangalore , Hyderabad , Pune , Calcutta and other cities.
