Komotini ( Greek Δήμος Κομοτηνής ) is a community (dim) in the north-east of Greece . Included in the peripheral unit of Rhodope in the periphery of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace . The population of 66,919 is the 2011 census. [2] The area is 644.934 square kilometers [1] . The density of 103.76 people per square kilometer [2] . The administrative center of the community is Komotini [2] . Georges Petridis ( Γιώργος Πετρίδης ) was elected Dimarch in the local elections of 2014.

In 2010, under the Kallikratis program , the abolished Neon-Sidirochorion and Eyiros communities [3] [4] were added to the Komotini community.
