Biography

Achieng Ongong was born in 1945 [1] . He was the eldest of 11 children of former freedom fighter Ramogi Achieng 'Oneko and his wife Jedida Okuku Oneko [3] . Ramogi Achieng Oneko was the publisher of the first dhluo-language newspaper, Ramogi. He worked as a director of a printing house and allowed African journalists to print Swahili publications in it, among which were Mvalimu, Khabari for Duniya, and Radio Post [4] .

Achieng Ongong came to the USSR to get a higher education at the Peoples' Friendship University. Patrice Lumumba , studied at the Faculty of Economics and Law with a degree in Economics. The supervisor of studies was Yu. A. Vasilchuk. In 1971 he defended his thesis at the UND named after Patrice Lumumba and became a candidate of economic sciences. He studied at the Crenfield Institute of Technology in the UK . In 1972, he began working as an economist at the Ministry of Enterprise Development and the Ministry of Tourism and the Environment. In 1981, he became the regional manager of KENYA INDUSTRIAL ESTATES LLC, and from 1987 to 1989 he was a senior consultant at KENYA COMMERCIAL BANK LLC. From 1989 to 1991 he worked as a consultant at the World Trade Organization in Madrid , and from 1991 to 1996 he was a manager of special credit programs at KENYA COMMERCIAL BANK LLC in Nairobi [1] .

In 1995, he mastered new technologies in project management at George Washington University in the United States . In the period from 1996 to 1997, he was the manager of KCC on behalf of KENYA COMMERCIAL BANK LLC, and from 1997 to 1998 he was senior manager of the commercial development department of KENYA COMMERCIAL BANK LLC. From 1998 to 2000 he worked as a consultant on business matters, and from 2000 to 2001 he was the director of the consulting company Metropol East Africa LLC. In the same period, he worked as a senior lecturer at the Department of Economics and Business at Maseno University [1] .

In 2003, he became Director General of the Kenya State Department of Tourism [1] and worked in this position for about 6 years, and in 2009 left this post [5] .

Achieng Ongong for the exemplary support of his people was awarded the Order of the Burning Spear [1] .

In 2013, he began to teach economics at the Technical University of Kenya, he signed a contract until 2019 [3] .
