Dikov, Sergey Alekseevich

Sergei Alekseevich Dikov ( January 8, 1926 - March 12, 2018 ) - Soviet military leader, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the USSR, executive secretary of the USSR Defense Council (1986-1989), colonel general.

Biography

Born on January 8, 1926.

In June 1942, at the age of 16, he volunteered for the Red Army . Since 1943, in the army — as part of the 1118th Infantry Regiment, the 338th Infantry Division fought on the Stalingrad , Don , Central and 1st Belorussian fronts.

Military education: graduated from the Ryazan Red Banner Infantry School named after K.E. Voroshilov (1949, first class) [1] and the main faculty of the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze (1969, with honors).

He served in the troops of the Moscow and Voronezh military districts, in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany .

Since 1969 - in the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff ( lieutenant colonel , colonel , major general , lieutenant general ).

From 1986 to 1989 - deputy chief of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces, executive secretary of the USSR Defense Council (Colonel General), in 1989-1991 - assistant to the representative of the Commander-in-Chief of the Joint Armed Forces of the Warsaw Treaty member states in the Bulgarian People’s Army.

Since 1991, was retired. He lived in Moscow.

Died March 12, 2018. He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery of the city.

Awards

  • He was awarded the orders of the October Revolution, World War I degree, Red Star, "For Service to the Homeland in the Armed Forces of the USSR" II and III degrees, as well as orders of foreign states and medals.
