Biography
Born February 20, 1954 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR [1] . In 1971 he entered the Minsk Higher Engineering Anti-aircraft Missile School , which he graduated in 1976.
He began his service in the air defense forces as the head of the combat control department of the radio-technical battery of the S-75 air defense system . From 1977 to 1980 he served as commander of the radio-technical battery of the S-75 air defense system. In 1980, he was appointed commander of the S-75 anti-aircraft missile division.
In 1983, he entered the Military Command Air Defense Academy . After completing his studies at the Academy, he served for two years as deputy commander of the S-200 anti-aircraft missile regiment.
In 1988, he was transferred to the service at the General Headquarters of the Air Defense Forces as a senior officer of the headquarters of the headquarters of the anti-aircraft missile forces of the air defense.
Since 1992 - senior officer-operator of the 1st direction of the 1st Directorate of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation .
In 1996 he entered the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation , after which in 1998 he was appointed head of group 1 of direction 1 of the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff.
On July 22, 2000 he retired to the reserve with the rank of colonel.
Journalism
After military service, he began working as a military journalist. Browser of the Nezavisimaya Gazeta from 2000 to 2003.
He worked as the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “ Military-Industrial Courier ” (2010–2015) and the magazine “Air and Space Defense” [2] .
At present, he is a military columnist for the newspaper Gazeta.Ru [3] and the Vesti FM radio station, where he regularly speaks as a guest of the two-to-five program, E. Ya. Satanovsky , who calls the column with Khodarenok’s participation “ militarist hour”.
