History
The temple in the newly established village Ivaschenkovo, at the Sergievsky Samara plant of explosives, was designed since 1915. Construction began in 1916, in 1918, the not completely ready temple was consecrated (construction continued in 1919) [1] . The construction was carried out according to the project of Samara architect Dmitry Alexandrovich Werner. The dedication of the church to Sergius of Radonezh is connected with the fact that the construction of the plant was led by the Grand Duke Sergei Mikhailovich , whose patron saint was Sergius of Radonezh [1] .
The temple, which became one of the few consecrated after the October Revolution, remained valid until 1926. After that, he was transferred under the House of Defense, during World War II was used as an ammunition depot, as well as a vegetable store. In the years 1952-1990. Chapaevsky House of Pioneers was located in the church building [2] .
In 1990, the executive committee of Chapaevsk city council of deputies decided to return the church to believers. In 1995, the temple was recognized as an architectural monument of federal significance [3] .
