Joseph-Emmanuel de La Tremouille ( fr. Joseph-Emmanuel de La Trémoille ; June 28, 1659 - January 10, 1720 ) - French cardinal , Bishop of Bayeux (1716-1718), Archbishop of Cambrai (1718-1720), Camellian College of Cardinals (1714-1715).

Biography
Born in 1659 in a noble family of La Tremuy , his father was Louis de La Tremuy, Count of Noirmoutier . The eldest sister of Joseph-Emmanuel was , who had influence in the courts of France and Spain and achieved many posts and privileges for her brother.
He studied at the Sorbonne , where he received his doctorate, at the end of his studies he was ordained a priest. In 1693-1702 he held a number of church posts, in 1702-1706 he was the representative of the King of Spain Philip V during his stay in Naples [3] .
On May 17, 1706, he was appointed cardinal at the Consistory , and received the title of Cardinal Priest of the Trinita dei Monti Church [4] . As happened in the Middle Ages and the New Age with representatives of noble families, La Tremuy received a cardinal hat without being a bishop. From 1706 until his death he was the representative of France before the Holy See , from 1708 - commander of the Order of the Holy Spirit . Since 1710 - Commander of the important abbey of St. Stephen in Caen [3] .
On January 27, 1716 he was elected Bishop of Bayeux , the election was confirmed by the Holy See on June 8 of the same year [4] . On May 11, 1718, he was transferred to the chair of Archbishop Cambrai, and only after that, on May 30, 1719, his episcopal ordination took place, led by Pope Clement XI. [4]
He died on January 10, 1720 in his palace in Rome , was buried in the church of San Luigi dei Francesi [3] .
