Content
Club career
Leighton is a graduate of the Uruguay de Coronado club. In his match against Lemon , he made his debut in the Costa Rica championship . In 2015, Jose played for Puntarenas on loan. After graduating, he returned to Uruguay de Coronado. On March 20, 2016, Jose scored his first goal for the club in a duel against Perez-Selendon [3] . In the summer of that year, Leighton moved to the Herediano . On September 18, in his match against Perez-Celedon, he made his debut for a new team [4] . On January 22, 2017, Jose scored his first goal for “Herediano” in a duel against Alajuelens [5] . In his debut season, he helped the team win the championship .
In the summer of 2017, Leighton transferred to the American Minnesota United on loan basis [6] . On September 10, in his match against the Philadelphia Union , he made his MLS debut [7] . On March 10, 2018, Minnesota United placed Leighton on the waiver list [8] .
International Career
In 2017, Leighton won the CONCACAF Gold Cup bronze medalist. On July 23, in his semifinal match against the USA, he made his debut for the Costa Rica national team [9] .
