Do-re-mi-do-re-do ( music . Branded-jokes. [1] ) is a musical phrase used by musicians in the countries of the former USSR to use foul language without saying [2] [3] . It is used as an obscene demonstrative refusal to play in public.
Sound and use
The rhythmic pattern of this musical curse reflects the rhythm of swearing expression [4] . A rhythmic hint of an abusive expression is used [1] .
In one of the concerts, Alexander Rosenbaum sang the song “Only musicians will understand my music” and then sang this phrase well-known in musical circles, accompanying himself on the piano. At the same time, the singer did not pronounce swear words, but only voiced the names of the notes [5] [6] .
In the song “Last Days in Paradise” from the self-titled album of the group “Accident”, the saxophone plays exactly this musical phrase in front of the musicians' quarrel.
In 2008, Andrei Danilko , known under the stage name Verka Serduchka, released the album "Doremi Doredo" [7] .
In 2013, composer Maxim Babyshkin, a former producer of Irina Dubtsova , wrote the lyric piano composition “Do-re-mi-do-re-do” [8] , which for several weeks was the leader on the promodj.com website in the section of classical and ballad music .
According to one version, the authors of such musical hooliganism are Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington , who came up with a number of similar expressions. In their performances, jazz improvisers enjoyed combinations of notes, the hidden meaning of which they themselves understood [2] .
There is a response musical phrase: sol-fa-mi-re-do-do # - “Go there yourself” [2] .
