Thirst (Nesbø novel)

In Oslo, two women were killed. Both have just returned home after meeting men they met through the Tinder app. Both were bitten before death with metal jaws and drank some of the victims' blood. The ambitious police chief Michael Belman received an offer to become the Minister of Justice and he needs to open this resonant case as soon as possible to obtain a high position. He meets with the police academy professor Harry Hall and forces him to join the investigation.

Hole adjoins an investigation team led by Katrina Bratt. Newcomer investigator Anders Willer and Belman’s only friend and comrade Truls Berntsen meet with VG journalist Mona Do, who offers them a reward for information on the vampire case, as psychologist Hallstein Smith christened the murderer, and Berntsen becomes Mona’s informant.

Chole realizes that the vampire may be rapist Valentin Yersten , who escaped from prison three years ago and was hiding from the police all this time. With the help of plastic surgery, the suspect changed his appearance and now only two can expose his new identity: bartender Mehmet Kalak, who saw Yersten during a meeting of one of the victims, and young Aurora, daughter of Eune Stole, psychologist and friend Harri Hall, who was raped by Valentine during the ceremony weddings of the former senior inspector and Raquel Foke.

Harry finds out that Valentine is visiting the Turkish baths and asks Mehmet to identify the suspect. Kalak recognizes Yersten, but betrays himself and manages to escape before the police arrive. Berntsen “leaks” information to Monet Do, which leads to the murder of the bartender. Raquel complains of malaise and is examined by a hematologist John Steffens. One day, Harry receives a message that his wife was led into a coma , and Hall faces a dilemma - to continue the investigation or leave everything for the last minutes with his beloved.
